Biography
Born in Makkah in 1908, Sheikh Abdullah Khayyat studied the Qur’an and Islamic sciences in the city’s educational environment. He served as an imam and preacher of the Grand Mosque, was selected by King Abdulaziz to teach his sons and direct the Princes’ School in Riyadh, and later became a member of Saudi Arabia’s Council of Senior Scholars.
The Princes’ School
The official biography of King Salman states that he received his early education at the Princes’ School, which was directed by Sheikh Abdullah Khayyat. The academically precise formulation is that Khayyat was the school’s director and one of those responsible for the education of King Salman and the sons of King Abdulaziz.
